The official kickoff to the NFL season is usually a day more anticipated than Christmas, but not this year. Christmas for football fans comes on Monday with a Monday Night Football matchup between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 4-12 Eagles were an eye sore last season, resulting in the firing of former head coach Andy Reid. Chip Kelly was brought in as the new head coach in Philadelphia, and he wasn’t leaving his playbook at the University of Oregon.
Kelly was the architect of an Oregon offense that would score 14 points before leaving the locker room in the first quarter. They were fun to watch, efficient and fast. With Kelly at the helm, the final chapter on the quarterback Michael Vick‘s book can finally be written.
Vick has reached his potential more as a man than he ever has as an NFL quarterback. He simply does not win games, stay healthy, or throw to receivers in front of defenders. That said, Vick is the most explosive quarterback the league has seen. He’s fast, elusive and has an arm that is seldom seen even among the elite in this game.
It appears that Kelly and Vick are a perfect match. If this is this is case, Vick will go down as the most misunderstood quarterback in league history. If Vick plays like Vick, he’ll be known as the most overrated.
