Pittsburgh Steelers’ Offense Not Bad, Tennessee Titans’ Defense Just That Good

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Every sports analyst, sports radio show host and sports writer is talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ inability to score against the Tennessee Titans. Everyone is talking about the Steelers’ offense not playing well, but that’s not the case – the Titans’ defense is just that good.

The Titans saw that their weakness was the offensive line in 2012 and spent the money to fix it, but also brought in a key defensive veteran. With the addition of Super Bowl winner Bernard Pollard in the secondary, Michael Griffin can play his natural role as a free safety. Jason McCourty continues to shine at cornerback, and Alterraun Verner somehow comes up with crucial picks.

Five sacks are not a fluke. Derrick Morgan is finally producing, Jurrell Casey got to the quarterback twice, and as a team, they pressured the quarterback for most of the game.

Mark my words, linebacker Zach Brown will be considered an elite linebacker in the NFL by the end of the season. He was all over the field in the game and recorded two sacks. Every time a Pittsburgh running back got past the line of scrimmage, Brown was there. He looks like he could be the most agile linebacker in the NFL.

The Titans aren’t a pushover team anymore. Their offense may struggle unless Chris Johnson can produce and the rebuilt offensive line can learn to mesh, but they will eventually learn to play together.

Their defense is one of the top 10 in the NFL. This is a new Tennessee defense with an aggressive mindset that doesn’t want their opponents to score – a mindset reminiscent of Pollard himself.

So, continue to sleep on the Titans’ vastly improved defense if you wish. The Houston Texans are going to find out the hard way in week two.

Dude you must have been watching another game or been paid off by the Titan franchise! The O-line for my beloved Steelers was abysmal! Todd Haley IS to blame and the coaching staff need to wake up! Fire Haley and get their heads back in the game!
