Top Twitter Reactions to Eagles' Win Over Redskins

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

For all those folks who thought Chip Kelly’s college game at the University of Oregon would not translate well to the NFL, there were a lot of eyes opened on Monday night. There were at least a few million of them, thanks to the national audience that Monday Night Football provides.

Kelly not only unveiled his offense for the Philadelphia Eagles in a win over the Washington Redskins, he turned a 4-12 team into one that led the Washington Redskins, 26-7, at halftime on the way to a big 33-27 opening-night win.

No one knows what will happen going forward, but the immediately reaction from social media was one of shock and awe. Kelly has arrived in the NFL and whatever happens now, he has already made a opening-game statement.

For Philadelphia fans, long wary of Andy Reid’s “I’ve got to do a better job” comment after every press conference last year, actually watching someone do a better job and not just talk about it had to be refreshing.

The twitter reactions also were mostly ranged the very narrow window of impressed to super impressed. After watching the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants slog through a mistake-prone opener on Sunday night, watching the Philadelphia Eagles using surgical-like precision to dissect the NFC East champions made an impact. The Eagles might not be immediate contenders but dismantling the defending division champions just one night after two perennial division powers struggled provided a lot of social-media fodder:
