Atlanta Falcons: Roddy White, Get Off Your Phone and Onto the Practice Field

After the Atlanta Falcons loss to their divisional rival New Orleans Saints, Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White continued his role as the constant distraction. White only caught two passes for 19 yards in the loss, and was clearly agitated post-defeat. White responded to fantasy football owners via Twitter a day after the game who were upset with his performance.

Aside from the fact that White needs to go back to elementary school and learn the difference between similar words, it is his constant willingness to interact negatively with critics via social networking that should be the real concern, here.

Oh but wait, there’s more.

White received tweets all day long about why he couldn’t have given any notice to his fantasy owners that he wasn’t going to be himself, that he was still not 100 percent and that he would be limited in the game. You don’t think he could resist furthering his immaturity, do you?

White does two things here. First, he reassures us that the NFL is in fact ”real” football. Thank God, I was worried Roddy. Second, he gives his critics an obvious answer, which was well deserved by those fantasy owners that thought he’d actually give insight as to the extent of his current condition heading into the game.

Let me be real here. White needs to worry about himself, not Twitter. The Falcons are 0-1 and have to rebound next week against the 1-0 St. Louis Rams. That should be his focus. My message to the injured and often-outspoken wideout: Get off Twitter and get yourself healthy; and until then, keep your mouth shut.
