When all was said and done, LeSean “Shady” McCoy finished with the most rushing yards by any Philadelphia Eagle player against the Washington Redskins in their long standing storied rivalry. 184 was the number. How he got there was the real story.

Some of McCoy’s runs were pure magic. He was hopping and hurdling over defenders and making cuts on a dime that only a few select players can make. Simply put McCoy is a special talent. Head Coach Chip Kelly seems to be utilizing him perfectly by allowing him to get out in space and let his athleticism go to work.

Kelly stated the run game would be more of a focal point and he wasn’t lying. The Eagles ran the ball a total of 49 times including 31 carries for the workhorse McCoy. Kelly came out and showed why his offense has been talked about all offseason.

In running 53 plays the Eagles ran the most plays by any team in a half since 1998. They have the weapons in their arsenal to make teams pay in DeSean Jackson and McCoy to go along with the dynamic athlete Michael Vick at the quarterback position.

On this night McCoy reminded some of the great Barry Sanders. His runs both in traffic and in space were simply astounding. If he keeps getting the rock like this and the Eagles keep running the offense at the tempo they do this offense truly has no bounds. Shady, catch your breath and get ready for round two on Sunday.
