Brian Urlacher has had no problem throwing the Chicago Bears under the bus since he left the team this past offseason. It no doubt got a little ugly between the two sides before the linebacker decided to retire from the game of football. He briefly considered playing elsewhere, but ultimately decided that he wanted to end his career after playing all 13 years of it for the Bears. But it seems pretty apparent that Urlacher is still mad at his former team.
During a recent interview, the future hall-of-famer was asked if he’d been given the silent treatment from any of his former teammates since his departure. Here’s what he had to say:
“I did not hear from Jay (Cutler). Out of all the guys I played with I felt like I stood up for him a lot more than anybody else did over the past 3 or 4 years in the media, cause that guy takes a lot of grief.”
Jay, how could you!?
Maybe Urlacher didn’t know Cutler as good as he thought he did? The Bears’ QB doesn’t really strike me as a guy who would reach out to a former teammate and thank them. But who knows? It’s extremely tough to get a read on Cutler. Sure, he comes across as a guy who just doesn’t give a crap about much, but only his true friends and family know the real person.
From an outsider’s point of view, I don’t see why Cutler would need to call Urlacher. Regardless, it makes you wonder how long this bitterness that Urlacher is carrying with him is going to last?
