Rex Ryan Deserves To Get Fired, Pay Mark Sanchez

By Devin O'Barr

Not only did Rex Ryan manage to ruin the New York Jets‘ 2013 season, he also might have put an end to Mark Sanchez‘s time in the NFL.

When news first broke that Sanchez will likely miss the entire year with a shoulder injury, my mind immediately went to Ryan, who caused the Jets’ quarterback to get hurt in the first place. If you don’t remember; Ryan thought it a good idea to start Sanchez in the fourth quarter of the third preseason game — Sanchez was exposed by third-string offensive linemen and suffered a brutal shoulder injury.

Let’s just say that Ryan doesn’t deserve to be coaching the Jets right now.

While most agree that Rex’s time in New York should be over, I’m willing to take it another step forward. Sanchez should get paid by Ryan if the five-year quarterback isn’t signed by another team this offseason. You see; Sanchez is a free agent after the 2013 campaign, which means that the Jets have no obligation to bring him back after the year.

Therefore, it’s very likely that an injured Sanchez doesn’t get another shot with an NFL team. Now, had Ryan not foolishly played Sanchez in that preseason game, then Sanchez would surely be healthy enough to showcase himself to the other teams. Since Ryan made that idiotic decision, it’s only right that he is forced to repay Sanchez somehow.

As Jets’ fans watch this pitiful season unfold, feel free to throw all of the blame on Ryan because he deserves it.
