The New Orleans Saints faced a weather delay in their week two game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which may have led to the low-scoring affair. However, once the game got going it turned into the Jimmy Graham show. Graham put up a career high 179 receiving yards and one touchdown as the Saints edged out the Bucs in a 16-14 Week 2 victory. Graham’s play helped the Saints continue their NFC south dominance as they are still atop of the division standings.
The Saints’ offense played a decent game despite two interceptions from Drew Brees. However, the Saints’ running game was once again ineffective as the team only rushed for a total of 75 yards. Thankfully, Graham had the best game of his career and the Saints were able to win the game on Garrett Hartley‘s field goal.
After his Week 2 performance, Graham has solidified himself as the best tight end in the NFL. Graham saved the day for the Saints in Week 2 and his big 56-yard touchdown reception proved to be the difference in the game. The Saints’ passing game is arguably the best in the league, and while the team’s receivers are great there is no question that Graham is Brees’ go-to target.
At 6-foot-7, 265 pounds, Graham is unstoppable and there really is not much opposing defenses can do to slow him down. The Saints will need Graham to continue his dominance as they host the Arizona Cardinals next week. After a hard-fought, somewhat sloppy Week 2 road win, the Saints will be looking forward to heading back home.
If the Saints can win in Week 3 they will make a statement that they are back and ready to contend in the NFC. Furthermore, each win that the Saints earn will get them that much closer to getting back to the playoffs, and they could be a sleeper and make a deep run in the playoffs.
