Terrelle Pryor Takes a Shot at Ohio State
Considering the circumstances, it’s been one heck of a season for Terrelle Pryor. A month ago, very few were giving him a chance to be the Oakland Raiders starting quarterback. As we sit here today, Pryor has already led the Raiders to a victory and played pretty well in his first two NFL starts. It’s of course been a tough road for Pryor to become a starter in the league and a lot of that has to do with his reputation coming out of college.
Pryor tossed the pigskin around pretty well during his days at Ohio State, but he was mainly known for his running ability. He’s relied on his legs thus far in his pro career, but hey, whatever gets the job done.
After his first career win on Sunday, the topic of his former school came up and the quarterback responded with this:
“That’s my school, but they don’t really accept me. I’ve moved on to what I have now, and that’s just football. Those guys kicked me out of school after all those things I did for them.”
Translation – OSU is dead to me.
While I understand Pryor’s point of view, I also fully understand the university’s. They don’t accept Pryor, because they shouldn’t. His career there ended badly, after he was involved in the tattoo/merchandise scandal that cost the school a bowl berth in 2012. The QB was facing a four-game suspension to start the 2011 season, but he instead decided to leave the school and start his journey to the NFL.
Now a couple years later, it looks like he made the right choice to turn pro. There’s still a ton of football yet to be played in 2013, but so far, Pryor is giving Raiders’ fans a little hope for the future.
