Jim Irsay Wasn’t Kidding, Indianapolis Colts Pull Off Mega-Trade for Trent Richardson
If you have Twitter, there’s a good chance you’ve seen something about Jim Irsay this afternoon. The Indianapolis Colts‘ owner was going off repeatedly, tweeting that there was a big trade announcement coming. Here’s an example:
This day of MONSTER TRADE,The Tidal Wave Of Deal making…Shocks the system of “..Didn’t see THIS ONE COMING!!!!!!” Grig’s Rollin’ Dice!

Anyone familiar with Irsay knows that this isn’t the first time the owner has gone off on Twitter. In the past, his mega news tweets haven’t really panned out. This time, however, the owner wasn’t kidding. The Colts have acquired Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns. Yes, you read that right. Richardson, the guy who was picked No. 3 overall last year, is now a member of the Colts. In exchange, Indianapolis will send its 2014 first round pick to the Browns.
The Colts were in the market for another running back after Vick Ballard went down with a torn ACL last week. Now, they’ve landed a guy who could be their feature back for the foreseeable future.
There is of course the issue of Richardson’s health which has been called into question by many. So far, though, he hasn’t missed significant time. If he can stay on the field, this could seriously turn around the Colts’ season, which hasn’t gotten off to the greatest of starts.
You can go ahead and file this in the category of shocking.
