St Louis Rams Show Little Growth Against Dallas Cowboys

To say the St. Louis Rams struggled against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3 is an understatement. Dallas was in control of the game from start to finish, and the Rams fell to 1-2 on the year.

It is a disappointing start after looking so good in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals and being extremely competitive last week against the Atlanta Falcons. In those games, the Rams looked as though they may have turned a corner under the steady hand of head coach Jeff Fisher.

In Week 3 they could not have looked much worse.

Jared Cook failed to have a “bounce-back” game and has now put together back-to-back disappointments after exploding in Week 1. The Rams must get production out of their borderline-star, and 44 yards on five catches will not do it.

The St. Louis rushing attack is as sad as it gets in the NFL. On Sunday they piled up a total of 12 yards, a total certain to drop them near the bottom of the league in that category. This is the weakest area of the Rams offense, and at this point one has to wonder the wisdom in letting Steven Jackson run off to Atlanta.

The Rams do have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball and should be expected to produce better results on a weekly basis. One game is not a season, and they will certainly bounce back from this loss. Chris Givens showed a glimpse of his potential, despite fumbling, and Austin Pettis has been a consistent weapon for Sam Bradford over the first three weeks.

None of the St Louis playmakers made an impact against the Cowboys, and despite having an improved offensive roster, the Rams failed to reach their potential. It is disappointing to see a team with so much potential fall flat in Week 3, but there is still plenty of football left to play and the Rams will have plenty of opportunity to make their fans forget this one.
