When it comes to watching a team play or even just flaking about a team, people always seem to talk about the main characters. And when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys you have some pretty big names. But a name that many may overlook is Dwayne Harris.

A special teams player who received NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 1, he also plays on the offensive side if the ball. This season Harris comes in as the third wide receiver in a group that consists of Dez Bryant and Miles Austin along with tight end Jason Witten.

So it’s easy to see how he may be overlooked in conversation when it comes to the Cowboys and the NFL for that matter, but Dwayne would be hard to miss if you actually pay attention on Sundays while watching the Cowboys. Wearing No. 17, Harris has long strands of dreadlocks hanging out of his helmet, and as when he’s flying down the field they are bouncing all over the place.

Harris was selected the sixth round of the 2011 draft from the small school of East Carolina. Coming into Dallas there is always a lot to prove to the world but most importantly to Jerry Jones. Harris really started putting it together in his second season with 11 kick returns for 210 yards and 22 punt returns with an average of 16.1 yards per return and one touchdown. He also finished the season with 17 receptions for 222 yards and a score.

This season is a big one for Dwayne. Year three is the year people expect even bigger things to happen. It seems as though Harris is up for the challenge and he’s stepping up each week, making important tackles on special teams as well as timely catches while at receiver. Look for Harris to receive another Special Teams Player of the Week award at some point this season, and if you’re in a deep fantasy league, he’s not a bad pick up with two touchdowns on the season through Week 3.

Dwayne Harris is a player that understands his role when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys. He is the guy to look at as a breakout candidate on this team. Look for him to continue to fly under-the-radar and really make big plays throughout a 16 game season.
