Vinny Curry Needs More Snaps for Philadelphia Eagles
There is no question about it. Vinny Curry needs to see the football field more after he had a fantastic game on Thursday night in limited snaps. Curry finished with a sack, a tackle for loss, and a pressure in only 12 snaps and was disruptive his entire time on the field.
The Philadelphia Eagles‘ pass rush has been lacking. Curry seemed to inject some life into the pass rush. He also is a menace at defensive tackle in the defense where he has beaten opposing guards with regularity. He is simply too quick and strong for most guards. Defensive coordinator Billy Davis has to find a way for him to not only be on the active roster on Sunday’s but to see significant snaps.
The pass rush was at its best on Thursday. A big reason for that was the additional snaps that Curry and defensive running mate Brandon Graham were afforded. Both players are natural pass rushers who have a knack for getting to the quarterback. It really is a shame Curry was inactive the first two games.
I believe he could have made a positive impact on the defense in either of the first two games that would have helped the defense thrive. It is time now to fully unleash the beast.
The Eagles have to go into Sports Authority Field at Mile High to face the Denver Broncos in what will be a stiff test, no doubt about it. The Broncos are a pass first team that has one of the all-time greats in Peyton Manning. If he is afforded time in the pocket he will pick apart this weak Eagles secondary and it will be good night nurse. In this game it is imperative that Graham and Curry see extended snaps. The Eagles simply need to pressure Manning to have even a prayer of winning on Sunday. Curry and Graham give them the best chance to do just that.
