Buffalo Bills’ Public Enemy In Week 4: Baltimore Ravens’ Lardarius Webb
Baltimore Ravens top cornerback Lardarius Webb is an excellent player that can shut down an opposing team’s No. 1 receiver. Webb went down last year with a torn ACL in Week 6 and has looked like he has returned to form prior to the injury already which is extremely impressive. While Webb won’t have an island named after him anytime soon his coverage skills are in the top echelon of the cornerback position. Also teaming up with third year cornerback Jimmy Smith has paid huge benefits to both cornerbacks.
Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stevie Johnson will have to have his routes down pat against Webb as this will be one of the biggest match-ups of the day on Sunday. If Webb succeeds in blanketing Johnson, the Bills could be in for an extremely long day as that would make it far easier for the Ravens’ front seven led by Haloti Ngata and the emerging Daryl Smith to confuse and put constant pressure on rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel all game long. If this happens the results might be similar to what happened last week against the New York Jets, as the score will not be a seven point difference since it’s extremely unlikely the Ravens will give up double digit penalties let alone 20.
All in all it should be an interesting one-on-one battle between the Buffalo Bills’ Stevie Johnson and the Baltimore Ravens’ Lardarius Webb on Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
