New York Giants Rumors: Trading Hakeem Nicks Does Not Make Sense

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks made some critical comments about quarterback Eli Manning at the end of the 38-0 stomping given to them by the Carolina Panthers. The critical comments by Nicks may have made the the Giants’ front office a bit weary because rumors have started that the Giants are shopping the wideout.

The Detroit Lions could be a team looking to make a big play in the trade market after its wide receiver Nate Burelson broke his arm in two places in a single-car accident earlier in the week. The Lions are looking for another receiver, and the team may be looking to target Nicks if the Giants are willing to part ways with the injury-ridden wide receiver.

As it was reported Wednesday, the Giants, including Manning, are not upset with Nicks. The frustration from the three straight losses to start the season has poured out all over the Giants locker room. One teammate blaming fans, another is blaming Manning, but no one really pointing fingers at themselves.

New York trading Nicks would be an impulse move that is not normally seen by the Giants. The rumor that Nicks is being shopped cannot be taken as truth just yet. It would not make sense right now to trade Nicks, and it would not make sense for Detroit either because Burleson is planning to be back by November.

Nicks does want a contract extension but with his recent actions, he may have to wait until the season is over.
