He was a part of the Eagles organization the past few seasons where he certainly did not perform up to his usual standard. Rodgers-Cromartie is one of the most physically gifted corners in the league. At 6-foot-2 and running a sub 4.3 40-time he can turn and run with any wide receiver in the game. He also has great ball skills. You have to wonder why it didn’t work out in Philly.
A part of it was his poor tackling ability and lack of focus in maintaining defensive responsibility. Rodgers-Cromartie will in all likelihood be matched up with another speedster in DeSean Jackson. If these two raced it certainly would be something to see as they are two of the fastest men in the entire league.
Jackson got the better of Rodgers-Cromartie during his Arizona days, torching him in the NFC Championship Game back in 2008. Jackson also knows all his little secrets and techniques thanks to practicing with him for two seasons.
It will certainly be a matchup to watch between Jackson and Rodgers-Cromatie. Jackson, unlike most weeks may not have the speed advantage he usually has. He should, however, be able to use his run after the catch skills against a questionable tackler in Rodgers-Cromartie. This will be the matchup to watch come Sunday.
