LeSean McCoy is on a rushing pace that would see himself shatter the NFL single-season rushing record. Adrian Peterson came a whisker away from breaking Eric Dickerson‘s almost 30-year-old record and McCoy right now is on pace to break it.
McCoy has been astounding this year. The Philadelphia Eagles running back looks like he is on another planet. The moves and his ability in space has him leaving defenders in the dust every Sunday. He even has players and coaches calling him the next Barry Sanders. He is the closest thing to the hall of fame Sanders in the league right now.
After four weeks, there is no question who the best running back in the league is. It is McCoy in a landslide. With Chip Kelly‘s style of running the ball, there is no reason why McCoy can’t keep up these numbers with his ability paired with an up-tempo offense perfectly suited to his skills.
McCoy goes up against a stiff challenge this week. The Denver Broncos feature the league’s No. 1 rushing defense. Perhaps this is McCoy’s toughest challenge yet. You can be sure whatever little space is out there on the football field though, McCoy will take advantage of. The Eagles offensive line has also opened up some big holes for McCoy to take advantage of.
We are witnessing greatness at the running back position. He is well on his way to becoming the Eagles best running back of all time. Perhaps even one of the league’s best of all time. Cherish watching this man in his prime, Eagles fans, there may never be another one like him again.
