5 Keys To Victory For Philadelphia Eagles vs Denver Broncos
5 Keys To Victory
The Philadelphia Eagles come off a disappointing loss on Thursday night. The offense certainly did not play the way they are capable of and for the first time all season, the offensive line had protection issues. Quarterback Michael Vick was running for his life much of the night. Under pressure, a lot of his old habits bubbled back to the surface.
Vick turned the ball over twice, and almost lost a fumble. He also was inaccurate at times and too much looked like the Vick that has struggled the past two seasons. He will need to play better going forward especially on Sunday against a formidable opponent in the Denver Broncos. LeSean McCoy was the lone bright spot rushing for over 150 yards and looking fantastic in the process. It doesn't look like their is much that can slow this kid down.
The defense showed improvement in Week 3. They really only gave up 16 total points as the Chiefs were gifted 10 points due to self inflicted wounds by the offense. Hopefully the defense can build on this Week 3 performance and play better as a unit going forward. One thing that continues to plague the defense is third down efficiency. They were gashed twice on third and long by wide receiver screens where they just couldn't get off blocks. The defense has failed to get off the field on third down all season. This is something that will have to be improved for the Eagles to have a chance at a playoff berth going forward.
The Eagles face a monster test on Sunday against the Broncos and their juggernaut of an offense. Let's take a look at five keys to victory for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
5. Michael Vick Will Need to Step His Game Up Big Time
Michael Vick had a poor outing on Thursday. He will need to forget about that performance and have a near picture perfect game for the Eagles to have a shot at winning on Sunday.
4. LeSean McCoy Will Have to Continue His Success on the Ground
LeSean McCoy may face his stiffest test yet as he goes up against the Denver Broncos No. 1 ranked run defense. McCoy will have to make use of what little space he has and be effective running the football for the Eagles to come away victorious.
3. Passing Game Will Need to Be Dynamic
DeSean Jackson was quiet on Thursday Night. This needs to change. Jackson needs to win his match up with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on Sunday for the Eagles offense to thrive. Secondary targets like Riley Cooper and Zach Ertz will also have to step their games up on Sunday Afternoon.
2. Offensive Line Will Need To Be Solid Up Front
The Offensive Line needs to win the battle up front. The Broncos are missing their best pass rusher in Von Miller. The Eagles on paper should have the advantage here and need to keep it that way if they want to come away victorious.
1. Defensive Line Will Need to Pressure Peyton Manning
The biggest key to the game will be getting pressure on Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. He can not be afforded consistent time in the pocket. If he is, you can write this one as an L in the box score. Pressure up front is the crucial key to the game for the Eagles to come away with a W.
