The Baltimore Ravens‘ offense was just horrible all day as Joe Flacco threw a career-high five interceptions while also accumulating 347 passing yards and two touchdowns as the Ravens lost to the Buffalo Bills 23-20.
Usually I would defend Flacco in these type of circumstances, but I just can’t. Throwing five interceptions in one game just can’t happen, and definitely not this year for Flacco as he is trying to emerge as a top three quarterback in the league. Flacco is the leader, so he must take most of the blame.
Having said that the Ravens’ offensive line is proving to be lazy week after week as the line can’t even run over a Bills defense which has allowed 155 yards a game entering Week 4 as the Ravens totaled just 24 rushing yards in this game.
The Ravens are still searching for answers on offense looking for players to step up. Wide receivers Marlon Brown and veteran Torrey Smith are certainly doing their part, but the tight end position is just a joke. Dallas Clark and Ed Dickson have proven to be too costly, especially Dickson who dropped a pass from Flacco which led to an interception early in the game.
The defending Super Bowl champs have to do something this week about the passing game. They just can’t leave things the way they are. They need a spark and some replacements. One player who comes to mind in this situation is Ravens’ rookie tight end Matt Furstenburg who is currently on the practice squad. He should replace Dickson who seems like he will never get his act together.
The Ravens are 2-2 but in first place in the AFC North. Things could be worse, but thankfully their division rivals are helping them out.
