Indianapolis Colts: Darius Butler Thrives Once Again Against Jacksonville Jaguars
For some reason, Indianapolis Colts cornerback Darius Butler plays his best games against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last year in the November 8 game at Everbank Field in Jacksonville on Thursday Night Football, Butler had three takeaways, including two interceptions and one fumble. He returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown, which earned him Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
He backed that performance up with another stout game against Jacksonville in Everbank Field on Sunday afternoon. Butler got another pick-six in the game early in the second quarter, giving the Colts the spark they needed to steamroll the Jags.
Butler’s interception and score gave the Colts a 10-3 lead as it was the turning point of the game. From there, Indianapolis would score 27 more points to give them a big 37-3 victory over a division opponent.
The corner added four more tackles of his own, coming in at second on the team as he became a huge thorn in Jacksonville’s side. That’s three interceptions two returned for touchdowns and a fumble recovery in the last two games at Jacksonville.
He will have another chance in Week 17 to add to that solid stat line as the Colts play host to the Jaguars in Lucas Oil Stadium in the season finale. Possible playoff implications of that game could be in play if Butler can back that performance up. Needless to say, Jaguars fans will be having nightmares of Butler once again and Colts fans will be dreaming if he can keep this play up against the other opponents this season.
