NFL Picks Week 5: 5 Teams That Will Definitely Get A Win

OS
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL is already about a quarter of the way through the regular season and Week 4 most certainly provided some entertaining matchups. From the Denver Broncos’ decimation of the Philadelphia Eagles to the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions hosting a high scoring showdown, there were plenty of games worth watching. Alas, the entertaining Week 4 is over and we must now turn out attention to Week 5 action.

Fortunately enough for football fans everywhere, Week 5 will most definitely prove to be just as interesting as the week prior. One of the most exciting matchups in Week 5 pits the 4-0 New Orleans Saints against the 3-1 Bears squad at Soldier Field. Quarterback Drew Brees will lead his high-powered offense head on into the Bears’ defensive den in what promises to be a well-contested fight. Another game which is guaranteed to be fun to watch will be Houston Texans’ matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. With 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick struggling to return the team to its 2012 form, it will be interesting to see which 2-2 team can rise to victory. Matt Schaub will certainly give the 49ers’ defense a run for their money and J.J. Watt will try to lead his ferocious defense to give Kerpernick a hard time.

With all of that said, it is now time to turn our attention to the Week 5 games that are a done deal. You may be surprised at some of the teams I am about to tell you are definitely going to win this week, so buckle your seat and click the “Next” button above to start the slideshow of my five definite winners.

Philadelphia Eagles Over New York Giants

EG
The Star-Ledger-USA TODAY Sports

The bad news for these two teams is their bottom-of-the-NFC standing. The good news, only one struggling team can lose this game – unless, of course, they tie. The Eagles have struggled mightily since their opening week win, but their offense has not been slowed down that much, not even by some strong defenses. The New York Giants have sunk to a miserable and surprising 0-4 record and have only scored seven total points in the last two weeks combined. Look for the high-flying Eagles offense to take advantage of the embattled Giants defense and for the Eagles to come out with a win.

Tennessee Titans Over Kansas City Chiefs

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

This may be called the upset of the week if the Tennessee Titans can pull off a win against the 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs. I know, I know. The Chiefs arguably have the best defense in the NFL through Week 4, but they have played mostly terrible teams thus far. In back-to-back weeks, the Chiefs beat the aforementioned Eagles and Giants and demolished the pitiful Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. The Titans are 3-1 with a couple solid wins under their belts and I believe they will steal a win at home against the Chiefs.

Atlanta Falcons Over New York Jets

FJ
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

If you based your choice solely on win-loss record, the New York Jets would have the edge as they are 2-2 compared to the Atlanta Falcons’ 1-3. But keep in mind, the Falcons’ previous four opponents have a combined record of 12-4 while the Jets’ opponents are 9-7. Look for young Geno Smith to struggle and for veteran Matt Ryan to have his best week of the season as the Falcons cruise to a win at the Georgia Dome.

St. Louis Rams Over Jacksonville Jaguars

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

To the guy who says that this is the week the Jags finally get in the win column, I say, “Sit down!” The St. Louis Rams defense has faced some tough tests, especially in trying to stop Colin Kaepernick in Week 4. The Jaguars have only managed to score double digits in one game this season. Do the math.

San Diego Chargers Over Oakland Raiders

CR
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY

The Oakland Raiders’ offensive struggles are no secret and the San Diego Chargers’ ability to score is certainly not understated. The only question is whether or not the Raider defense has enough to stop Phillip Rivers and company. My money is on the Chargers to go into the Black Hole and make a lot of unruly fans very angry. Expect the Chargers to win this cross-state rivalry game.

That does it for my slideshow. I would love to read your comments about whether or not you agree with these five game predictions. Thanks for reading!
