Cleveland Browns rookie freak pass rusher Barkevious Mingo is nothing short of amazing in what he can do to cause offensive tackles and coordinators fits, migraines and a few sleepless nights. Mingo stands 6-foot-4, weighs 241 pounds and at the Combine he ran his 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds. So far in 2013 the man also known as “KeKe” has amassed three and a half sacks with 10 total tackles.
Mingo was selected sixth overall in this April’s NFL Draft, and with the Browns taking him they have assembled a extremely talented group of linebackers with D’Qwell Jackson and Paul Kruger. This linebacker group has the perfect combination of strength, speed, experience and youth.
Mingo’s primary match-up will be against the Buffalo Bills‘ monster left tackle in Cordy Glenn who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs roughly 345 pounds. However, don’t let that size fool you as Glenn is extremely light on his feet and due to the massive size difference, he could engulf Mingo and ideally neutralize him. Another way to neutralize a legitimate pass rush is to establish the run game early and often, similar to what the Bills did last week against the Baltimore Ravens as they rushed for 203 yards on 55 carries. It was running back by committee and the Bills threw in a few reverse runs by wide receivers for good measure.
All in all it should be interesting to see if the Bills can take out the Browns’ new kid on the block that’s showing a lot of promise with only three games notched to his belt.
