Colts vs. Seahawks: Team With Fewest Turnovers Will Win On Sunday

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

What a game in Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday. The Indianapolis Colts (3-1) will host the undefeated Seattle Seahawks (4-0) Sunday afternoon in what will be a smash-mouth football game. Both teams a very even and play very similar styles.

The Colts and Seahawks are defensive-minded, physical football teams that like to pound the ball on the ground on offense and keep teams off the scoreboard by creating sacks and turnovers. Indianapolis ranks eighth in total defense while Seattle is sixth. The Colts only give up 12.8 points per game, which ranks fifth while the Seahawks give up 11.8, which is second.

On the ground, Seattle rushes for an average of 144.2 yards per game which is fifth in the league, while the Colts rank fourth, gaining 149.5 yards per game on the ground.

The game is going to come down to who can create the most turnovers on defense and who can hold onto the ball on offense. The Colts have 13 sacks and six interceptions compared to Seattle’s 11 sacks and seven picks. Seattle has a +7 turnover ratio while Indianapolis is +6. That says it all right there. The winner of this game will have fewer turnovers than the other.

Both teams have big-play capability on defense and can score on that side of the ball. Both coaches will be harping on not turning the ball over and protecting their quarterback. Both Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck, who are in their second years of their young careers, can’t take chances by throwing the ball into coverage much. Both secondaries are fast and physical and will pick passes off.

This game will be very fun, and the team with the fewest mistakes will come home victorious.
