How Will Mike Goodson’s Return Impact New York Jets?

It’s what all New York Jets fans have been waiting for: the return of Mike Goodson.

Goodson, who was acquired by the Jets during the offseason from the Oakland Raiders, was unfortunately suspended for four games for an offseason arrest on weapons and drug charges. That is not stopping Goodson enthusiasm to be back on the field though. He took to his Twitter account to let everyone know how excited he is to be back:

Excited And Happy To Be Back With My Brothers On The Field!!!!  Can’t Wait Until Monday Night!!!!!

Before Goodson sent out that tweet, he didn’t tweet for 142 days. With Bilal Powell being the featured running back in the Jets’ offense and now with the addition of Goodson coming back, this running game can continue to be the staple for the Jets’ offense.

With Geno Smith leading the AFC with eight interceptions and being only second to Eli Manning in the NFL, the Jets’ running game will continue to have to excel along with the front seven defense in order for this team to have any success. Without Goodson, the running game for the Jets have totaled 492 yards and two touchdowns on 152 attempts. With Goodson’s return, the pace of these numbers should double before the end of the season.

With the talent the Jets have on defense and the talent they now have acquired to run the ball, they are a team built for the playoffs — and anything can happen in the playoffs.
