Denver Broncos' Defense Will Be The Team's Downfall

We can talk about how explosive Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos‘ offense are until the cows come home, but the Broncos’ defense will be the reason why they don’t win the Super Bowl this season. Yes, the Broncos went on to defeat the Dallas Cowboys, but they won 51-48. There is no way on earth that Manning, or any offense for that matter, should scratch and crawl for a victory after scoring 51 points.

I have seen this movie before, and it never ends well for the team with a terrible defense. Yes, I said terrible. The reason why the Broncos’ defense has played well in stretches is because their offense is so explosive that it literally forces the opposing offenses’ hand to fight a different style more than usual. The Broncos’ defense has been allowing over 390 yards a game. They are not very good.

A lot of people will say, “this is just one game”, but it’s a game that paints the picture of the Broncos’ downfall this season. Outside linebacker Von Miller is coming back, and cornerback Champ Bailey will come back as well. Still, there are too many issues in the secondary for two people to solve all at once.

Tony Romo threw for over 500 yards when his offense didn’t even crack 70 yards rushing. That is alarming if you are the Broncos’ defense. There will be an offense that will come along with more balance, and it’ll be able to control the clock a lot more to keep the Broncos’ offense off the field.

This is a wake-up call. No, this isn’t wishful thinking that the Broncos will fail, but defense wins championships. You can’t trust the Broncos’ defense to make a stop on a consistent basis.
