With the breaking news coming out of the NFL Monday morning that the Oakland Raiders have released quarterback Matt Flynn, there is already a buzz regarding the now-free agent passer and where he may land.
One of the interesting teams at the moment is that of the Tennessee Titans. Sunday morning, it was said that the Titans had reached out to another former Raiders quarterback — JaMarcus Russell.

Now, there is already plenty of speculation that the Titans could take a look at Flynn. A multitude of Titans fans have already tweeted Monday that they would love their team to bring Flynn to Tennessee for at least a workout.
Since Jake Locker will be out for a few weeks and they are stuck with Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Titans look like they could be taking a step backward due to Fitzpatrick not having the feel for the offense that Locker does. Fitzpatrick went 21-for-41 in his first start, with a touchdown and two interceptions, and a rating of 57.7.
The Titans would certainly benefit from at least giving themselves options. They have a defense that is on the rise, already showing they can play much better than they did last year. Either Russell or Flynn could be an upgrade from Fitzpatrick depending on their workouts — if they happen.
All indications right now are that the Titans are indeed looking for a quarterback and want to bring in someone to compete with Fitzpatrick in the meantime while Locker recovers. Could it be Flynn or Russell? It’s very possible. Stay tuned.
