Minnesota Vikings: Josh Freeman Will Play Quickly; Leslie Frazier is Walking Contradiction

A couple of days after the Minnesota Vikings signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman, and now we’re starting to see and hear all of the rumors regarding when and if he will start. Well, if ESPN NFL insider Ed Werder has any inside indication, it could be very soon.

“Freeman is going to play and he’s going to play quickly,” Werder said Tuesday morning on the air.

But, just how quickly will Freeman play? How quick is ”quickly?”

At the moment, head coach Leslie Frazier has said he is sticking with Christian Ponder, labeling him as “our quarterback,” in his words last week. But, does “our quarterback” mean he will continue to start?

That’s been the takeaway from his statement, but then again Frazier also said in a separate interview that “between he (Ponder) and Matt [Cassel], they’ll be the guys that are starting the game (in week six),” according to Fansided.

Frazier has already said Freeman won’t start in week six, but also reiterated that the new quarterback would have the chance to start in the future.

Just how contradicting does this guy get? I mean, don’t get me wrong —  I love Frazier. He’s a man of faith and high character. I’ve never had a problem with who he is as a man or a coach. But, these statements have me wondering just where his mind is at right now.

Granted, this is a tough spot for a coach to be placed in: Three potential starting quarterbacks all on one roster. There have been so many rumors and thoughts as to what will happen in Minnesota here in the near future, but only Frazier knows ultimately what will be the end decision — actually, he may not know at the moment.

We’ll just have to keep wondering ourselves until the team takes the field in week six. Beyond that, I’m sure there will be continued controversy as week seven approaches. For now, no one even knows what could happen tomorrow at this point.
