It’s obvious that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in shambles. Why, though, has it come to this point? I’ll tell you why.

Head coach Greg Schiano has no idea how to coach this football team. He’s not well respected in the locker room, causes plenty of drama between his players and is well, for lack of a better word, kind of a prick. Schiano came into this season with a secondary that makes any quarterback quiver with fear. There is no way a team with this defensive group — and, actually, offensive group — should be 0-4.

Already this year there have been notable disagreements and arguments between Schiano and his players. The two most important guys affected have been All Pro corner Darrelle Revis, and of course, quarterback Josh Freeman who is now with the Minnesota Vikings.

With that said, there are fans all over who are wondering when this guy will be canned. A few days ago, Jay Glazer made a very good point when he said what seemed to be music to Buccaneer fans’ ears.

I said it today on @FFD, I will tweet it here… the Bucs need to make Lovie Smith their next head coach. He’s a grown up w no drama

— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) October 2, 2013

After Glazer gave his opinion on the matter, it began to seem like more of a potential reality. Fans all over Twitter spread their opinion on the matter, and the majority would have absolutely no objection to Lovie Smith replacing Schiano.

The move, if it happened, would likely occur at the end of the season which is now a lost cause. The team doesn’t necessarily have any sure-fire interim candidates that would last beyond this season if Schiano were fired.

Smith would certainly be a phenomenal hire, though. The Bucs need a coach that demands respect from his players and that is exactly what Smith does. He’s a no-nonse guy who loves his players like his own children, but his players have always known they will respect him greatly.

What the Bucs do from here on out is another matter, but Smith definitely makes some sense for them. Who knows, maybe we’ll be talking about an interim coach in Tampa Bay a week from now.
