Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Table is Set For Mike Glennon’s Breakout Game

Everything is in place for Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon to have his breakout game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Josh Freeman debacle is over, and the Bucs can now focus on nothing but the game ahead of them with Glennon as the unquestioned starter. Coming off their bye, Tampa Bay will have had two weeks to prepare for the Eagles and to get Glennon as acclimated to the offense as possible.

I’m not sure what happens when an unstoppable force hits an immovable object, but on Sunday, we’ll find out what happens when a very stoppable force hits an extremely movable object. The Bucs’ last-ranked offense is up against the Eagles’ bottom-dwelling defense, and it’s the perfect opportunity for Tampa to get some momentum and turn their season around.

Glennon will be at home against a defense that has surrendered 326 passing yards per game and 31.8 points per game. With two weeks to prepare, everything is lined up for the rookie QB to succeed. This is not yet a busted season for Tampa Bay, but Glennon must step up in his second NFL start.

Up against Chip Kelly’s high-octane offense, the Bucs’ defense will have to step up big as well . Tampa has a great D that has been given zero favors from their offense this season and if they can contain the Eagles, this could be a big turning point in the season for the Bucs. QB Nick Foles starting for the Philly is a negligible dropoff, if a drop off at all, from Michael Vick — Tampa’s defense is still going to have their work cut out for them.

It will be tough fight, but this is a winnable game for the Buccaneers. Their season isn’t beyond saving, but it must start this Sunday with a victory over the Eagles.
