According to multiple reports, former Dallas Cowboys great Deion Sanders is the subject of an assault investigation by the Dallas Police Department due to an incident at his local prep school, Prime Prep.  An employee of the charter school, Kevin Jefferson, has alleged Sanders attacked him, grabbing him by the throat and throwing him to the ground following an argument regarding the poor academic performance of some of the school’s student-athletes.

Jefferson has visited a hospital to determine if any injuries resulted from the altercation and has told Dallas media outlets he would consider pressing charges and legal action against Sanders. If these allegations turn out to be legitimized, it’ll be far from the first time the former Cowboys star has had a brush with the law.

Most recently, Sanders’ divorce from model Pilar Sanders was highly publicized. Deion Sanders was allegedly attacked by Pilar Sanders and a friend attacked him at his home. In this instance, Sanders refrained from retaliating and was cleared of any wrong-doing, but it’s just one example of many in which violence seems to follow Sanders wherever he goes.

Deion Sanders was always a volatile and flashy personality on and off the field. His on-field persona which was based on trash-talking and highlight-reel plays, often resulted in flashiness and dynamic business ventures and a personal life which has always been under the spotlight to one degree or another.

With his founding of Prime Prep, Sanders had the goal of helping disadvantaged young men in the Dallas / Fort Worth area get on their feet and be able to play football at a high level and pursue their academic interests at the same time in a safe environment. It’s unfortunate to hear that Sanders may again be involved in an altercation which could lead to legal troubles — especially given his recent induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame– but it’s hardly an exception to the rule.
