The New Orleans Saints have been without wide receiver Lance Moore for the past two games and it looks like he will miss his third-straight game against the New England Patriots. Moore is officially listed as questionable for the Week 6 matchup with the Patriots, but all signs point to him not playing.
Moore has been out since the Saints’ 31-7 Week 3 victory against the Arizona Cardinals. Moore suffered a wrist injury during that game and has not played in a game since. The Saints have not revealed how serious Moore’s injury is and, at this point, we can only assume that it is week to week.
There have been some rumors saying that Moore could miss a few more weeks with his wrist injury and some might wonder if he might have broken or fractured something. If and when Moore does return to the Saints, he will provide great depth in the receiving unit. However, at this point, when Moore returns, the Saints might not need him.
The Saints’ passing game has been great this season due in large part to tight end Jimmy Graham. He leads the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns, and the wide receivers are all second or third options to Graham. When Moore comes back, he might be more of an afterthought in an offense that has been very successful without him.
For Moore, the most important thing right now is to get 100 percent healthy and be ready when his number is called. Moore is still a valued member of the Saints and if he comes back healthy I think the team will be able to find some playing time for him.
