Denver Broncos' Knowshon Moreno key in victory

Someone on the Denver Broncos had to answer the call.

Knowshon Moreno had only 42 yards rushing, but his three touchdowns were key in the Broncos’ 35-19 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. I know 42 yards rushing is not a big game, but when it all comes down to it, Moreno made the plays in the red zone to bury the Jaguars. Peyton Manning did not have a bad game, but it was not a good one statistically as he only threw for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns. His only interception was a pick six that gave the Jaguars the momentum to hang with the Broncos for a bit.

But, as the famous YouTube video goes, Moreno went into Greg Jennings mode and “put the team on his back” as he scored all three of Denver’s touchdowns to keep Jacksonville from pulling off a huge upset. As I stated in my 5 Reasons to Watch article, Moreno was to have a game to remember. He didn’t pull off 100 yards rushing, but he did get over 100 yards total and 3 scores. It could be that Moreno has secured the starting running back job for the Broncos. Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman did not perform up to standard, compared to Moreno.

I think from this performance, Moreno has just all but secured the starting job in Denver. The question now is: can he perform at a higher level as the season continues? I have no doubt that he will be able to become key to the Broncos’ offense. And with the Broncos getting everyone back shortly, Moreno will be another key element (especially in the offense) towards a long run for Denver.
