LeSean McCoy Exposes Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Defense As Philadelphia Eagles’ Ground Game Flourishes
LeSean McCoy had a big game on Sunday afternoon despite squaring off against a stingy Tampa Bay Buccaneers run defense. The Philadelphia Eagles‘ offensive line deserves some credit here as they did an excellent job of opening up holes and lanes for Shady to run through.
McCoy got it done on the ground and through the air as he finished with 116 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards in a day that saw him rack up almost 200 total yards by himself. McCoy is now out in front by a wide margin for the rushing title at almost 100 yards ahead of the next closest back.
It is refreshing for Eagles fans to finally see the run game be the focal point of the offense with Chip Kelly at the helm, especially given all the talent they have at the position. That of course starts with Shady. He has to be in the conversation for the best back in the game along with Adrian Peterson the way he is running the football right now.
He is simply the best short area runner in football. His wide array of jukes, cuts, and spin moves has pro defenses looking helpless. He is also finally in the right type of offense that features him as the go-to player.
He is the Eagles’ best all-around player, and Kelly has fed him as such. He is on pace for a career year in terms of carries and yards, and should be the starter for the Pro Bowl.
The Eagles now sit at 3-3 and tied atop the NFC East. They will need to ride McCoy to the finish line to stay on top and clinch a playoff berth.
