Everybody remember Dennis Pitta? Yeah, he’s still around and he’ll be eligible to return to the Baltimore Ravens in their Week 9 contest against the Cleveland Browns. Pitta was set to have a breakout year in 2013, but an unfortunate hip injury in training camp put Pitta on the shelf. Initially it was believed that Pitta would be out for the year, but the Ravens placed him on the IR with special designation to return.
The Ravens have definitely been hurting on the tight end front as Ed Dickson and Dallas Clark have struggled all season. Clark seems to be on the up-and-up, though, as he made an incredible one-handed catch for a touchdown last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Dickson has been an absolute nightmare, however, dropping everything that comes near him, unless it’s a tough catch (funny how that works). To sum it all up, it would be really nice to have Pitta back in the fold. But is there a realistic chance that Pitta could be back by Week 9? As always, the Ravens are being really mum on this issue. It’s almost like they have a playbook of generic non-revealing answers they always give to the media.
In my opinion, I think Pitta will try to be back for what will be a critical game against the Cincinnati Bengals at home in Week 10. Getting a beast like Pitta back could be just what a struggling and inconsistent offense like the Ravens’ needs. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.
