NFL Week 7 Picks Against The Spread
We have come to Week 7, and our picks are still well above .500.
Last week was a close one, going one game above 500. The high spreads, including the highest of all time, made it a hard week to pick.
The NFL is nearly impossible to predict. It is the league with the most parody in all of sports. It has been said many times, but it seems like it is near impossible to predict when a team is going to compete. The Jacksonville Jaguars, by far the worst team in the league, caused Peyton Manning to have his worst game of the year. It takes one big play to sway the entire game. One pick six coming from the opposition's endzone can take all of the life out of a power house.
Looking ahead, this is another week with plenty of big games. One of which has been marked on the calendars since the schedule came out earlier this year. There are some big divisional matchups that are always unpredictable. The Monday night game pits two teams who have a combined one win on the season. These kinds of games could have any sort of outcome without surprising anyone.
Las Vegas knows what it is doing. They make a lot of money on these point spread picks. If they didn't, they would continue to do it. It may be one of the hardest bets to try to make, but we try to take it on once again. These are the Week 7 picks against the spread.
Last Week: 8-7
2013 Season: 48-41-2

Seattle Seahawks (-6.5) @ Arizona Cardinals
This Thursday Night game is one that is very intriguing. The Arizona Cardinals have been very inconsistent this season. One week they will lose to the St Louis Rams, then the next week they will beat the Detroit Lions. This week they face the Seattle Seahawks, who are considered by many as one of the best teams in the league. Unfortunately, the Seahawks have not been nearly as good on the road. They are getting nearly a touchdown, but that will represent the pick six they get off of Carson Palmer. Go with the road team. Seattle 27 Arizona 17
New England Patriots (-4.5) @ New York Jets
When these two played earlier this season, it was one of the sloppiest games in the NFL this season. The New England Patriots are coming off a cardiac win against the New Orleans Saints. The New York Jets are coming off a snore-fest loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Patriots are coming into this game trying to ruin the Jets season. New England 41 New York 20
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons (-7.5)
Poor Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This team just seems to continue to get worse and worse. Now they are getting over a touchdown against a team with one win. With all that already known, still going with the Atlanta Falcons with the points. Tony Gonzalez is sick of hearing his name in rumors. He didn't come back for this. All of that pent up aggression will be taken out on whatever linebacker or safety that Greg Schiano decides to put on him. Also, Mike Glennon will be overwhelmed by the noise in the Georgia Dome. Atlanta 31 Tampa Bay 16
Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins (-7.5)
The Miami Dolphins are coming off a disappointing loss to a team that is supposedly on the down swing. The Buffalo Bills are coming off an overtime loss to a team that could have changed their season. Yet, the Dolphins are still getting over a touchdown at home, where it isn't much of an advantage. This is way too many points. Take the points and run in this game. Buffalo 17 Miami 24
Cincinnati Bengals @ Detroit Lions (-2.5)
The Bengals have been sneaking by every single team this season. They have one win this season that is by more than one score, and that is against the Steelers. They remind me of last year's Colts. They are only 1-2 on the road though. The Lions will play a good game, but it will remain close. The Lions will win it on a last second David Akers field goal. Cincinnati 24 Detroit 27
Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5)
The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles are going head to head with the winner coming out as the leader of the NFC East. Now, while that is saying a lot about the state of the division, it is still important to see about the playoffs. This game will be crazy high scoring with these two offenses, and also the lack of defenses. The Cowboys will come out on top. Dallas 42 Philadelphia 31
San Diego Chargers (-9.5) @ Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are coming their best game of the season when they actually played with the Denver Broncos for a while. The San Diego Chargers actually won their game this week. The Jags will go back to getting absolutely dominated by teams now that the fire they had last Sunday will have fizzled out. Go with Philip Rivers on a big win. San Diego 38 Jacksonville 13
St Louis Rams @ Carolina Panthers (-6.5)
The Carolina Panthers are another team that seems to be Jekyll and Hyde. One week they can go toe to toe with the Seahawks, the next week they lose to the Bills. Coming home will make them more motivated than ever. They get back Jonathan Stewart. They are going to have a very good offensive day. Sam Bradford will not. Their new weapons have not worked out so far. Something has got to give. St Louis 10 Carolina 31
Chicago Bears @ Washington Redskins (-0.5)
No love given to Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears. Too much love given to Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. There is no reason why they should be getting anything, even half a point, against a somewhat quality opponent. Chicago 30 Washington 16
San Francisco 49ers (-4.5) @ Tennessee Titans
The San Francisco 49ers are quietly still one of the best teams in the league. The Broncos has taken some of the spotlight off of them, but don't sleep on them. The Titans are a very nice story, but they have are not likely to do anything with Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point in his career. Despite a bad game from Frank Gore, the Niners will cover this game. San Francisco 20 Tennessee 13
Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5)
Is this still the biggest rivalry in the league? It is still very nasty and physical, even though some of the familiar faces are gone. Both these teams have had down first parts of the season. The Steelers should still not get this many points against the Baltimore Ravens. Take the away team here. Baltimore 17 Pittsburgh 13
Cleveland Browns @ Green Bay Packers (-10.5)
This may be a lot of points, but it is Brandon Weeden in Lambeau Field. This is Brandon Weeden against Aaron Rodgers. This is Brandon Weeden. Even with a thin receiver unit, this Packers team is going to dominate this game. Cleveland 18 Green Bay 36
Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5)
The Houston Texans are going with Case Keenum at quarterback this week. He isn't starting against the easiest of defenses. The Kansas City Chiefs have allowed the least amount of points per game this season. They may be the best defense in the league. There is a reason they are undefeated. That won't change now. Houston 13 Kansas City 41
Denver Broncos (-6.5) @ Indianapolis Colts
This is the biggest game of the week, if not the biggest of the season so far. The Indianapolis Colts have been in the headlines all week thanks to their owner Jim Irsay. He needs to let this game play out. The Broncos are just a little much for them right now. Andrew Luck will have a great game, but Manning will be better. Denver 38 Indianapolis 27
Minnesota Vikings @ New York Giants (-3.5)
This was the face that Josh Freeman had when he was told he was starting this week. This is going to be like the first game Carson Palmer played with the Oakland Raiders. The New York Giants and Eli Manning may not play well, but their defense will get them their first win. Minnesota 9 New York 21
