Rob Gronkowski Will Make Immediate Impact in Return for New England Patriots
Finally the news New England Patriots‘ fans have been waiting for was announced today. Rob Gronkowski, who has been practicing all year but has yet to play a game, has been medically cleared and will play Sunday against the New York Jets. It has been a while since Gronk stepped on the field in a game situation, and the Patriots offense will be happy to have him back considering they have struggled much of the first six weeks. The Question is, how long will it take for Gronk to get back into the form he was in before the injuries?
I believe Gronkowski will come in and be an immediate impact on this offense, and Tom Brady is going to be happy to have his favorite red zone target back. I look for Gronk to have a monster game against the Jets, as well as open up the field for other players like Julian Edelman, Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson. He will also have an impact in the running game, as he was considered the best blocking TE in the league before he went down last year.
Despite all the murmurs about the locker room chemistry being hurt over this whole situation, that will quickly go away if Gronk comes back and impacts the offense like many believe he will. One player does not make a team, but getting the best TE in the league back in your lineup will be a huge lift for this offense which will start making up for its inconsistencies in the first six weeks. If the Patriots’ defense can keep playing at the level they have been and the offense gets back to the form of previous years, look for this team to be talked about with the Denver Broncos as the best team in the AFC.
