5 Up-and-Coming Players Who Could Break Out In Week 7
5 Up-And-Coming Players Who Could Break Out In Week 7
This week features a slate of great games including Peyton Manning returning to his old stomping grounds to take on the Indianapolis Colts. A divisional clash with first place on the line that sees the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys is also one of the weekend's more juicy matchups.
The great thing about football besides that Any Given Sunday one team can take down another is the emergence of new players every year and seemingly almost every week. It's what makes Fantasy Football such a tricky thing no one knows where the next offensive star will come from.
This year has featured a ton of rookie and second and third-year players coming into their own. Whether it is the system or the talent they had coming out of college rookies nowadays in the NFL are having a more seamless transition from college to the pros than ever before.
Take one look at the Quarterback position and marvel at it. Last year, three guys broke out onto the scene like gangbusters in Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson. Two more look to really be coming into their own in Nick Foles and Ryan Tannehill.
An astounding number of players are having early success at the league's toughest position. It isn't just reserved for the Quarterback spot though. We are seeing it all over the league both on offense and defense. Players breaking out for their respective teams proving that age and inexperience doesn't matter in a league that now features up tempo, spread out offenses all over the league.
Let's take a look at five up-and-coming players who could break out in Week 7.
5. Gio Bernard Should Feast On Detroit Lions Suspect Run Defense
Gio Bernard and the Cincinnati Bengals square off against the Detroit Lions 29th ranked rushing defense. The young running back who features a great combination of power and explosiveness should break out against this porous Lions run defense.
4. Geno Smith Should Take Advantage Of An Injured New England Patriots Defense
Geno Smith has the chance to right his wrongs against the Patriots at home. Their defense is facing a rash of injuries including to stud nose tackle Vince Wilfork and linebacker Jerod Mayo for the season. They will also be missing shut down corner Aqib Talib for this week. This is a chance for Smith to break out and for the Jets to get back in the divisional race.
3. Nick Foles Has A Great Opportunity For Success Against Dallas Cowboys' Weak Secondary
Nick Foles has a great opportunity in front of him; he's first place in the NFC East and beating the Cowboys. Going against the 30th ranked Cowboys passing defense doesn't hurt. Foles should be in for a huge day in what should be a shootout at Lincoln Financial Field.
2. Terrance Williams Should Break Out Against Philadelphia Eagles' Woeful Secondary
Terrance Williams has really come on as a weapon at Tony Romo's disposal. The wide receiver has broken out the last few weeks in the Cowboys offense. Don't look for that to change Sunday against the Eagles 31st ranked passing defense.
1. T.Y. Hilton Should Expose Denver Broncos' Bottom-Ranked Pass Defense
T.Y. Hilton and Andrew Luck should be licking their chops. They go up against the bottom ranked Broncos secondary. Hilton is an emerging star at receiver and turning into Luck's favorite target. I see a huge game in store for Hilton on Sunday Night.
