Buffalo Bills’ Public Enemy In Week 7: Miami Dolphins’ Paul Soliai
To call Miami Dolphins nose tackle Paul Soliai massive just doesn’t do him justice nor does it give him the respect he deserves. Soliai stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 344 pounds and his stats will not blow you away by any stretch of the imagination. However, as a true nose tackle, it is a thankless job as he will eat up offensive linemen easily so others such as Cameron Wake and Koi Misi access to the quarterback all game long due to favorable matchups.
The main man for the Buffalo Bills that will be called upon to neutralize him will be once again center Eric Wood as he has done so all season long with nose tackles as the road grading offensive linemen and has had excellent success so far. Another person that will have to do a lot once again is current quarterback Thad Lewis as he will have to keep the pace going lighting quick and consistently positive so eventually Soliai will simply tire out and then the Bills run game can break off even larger chunks on carries.
The Dolphins and Bills rivalry dates back to 1966, and there have been some amazing battles in the trenches that get overlooked that doesn’t include Richmond Webb for Miami and Bruce Smith for Buffalo. This would include Dolphins’ nose tackle Brian Sochia versus Bills’ center Kent Hull in the same situation as today, just 25 years later. All and all, one can only hope for this legendary rivalry to continue this year and for many years down the road.
