Denver Broncos' Ronnie Hillman Is An Accident Waiting To Happen

Down by nine with a couple minutes left to try to comeback with ball near the end zone? Never give it to Ronnie Hillman in that spot!

The fumble-prone running back struck again as Hillman fumbled what could have been a touchdown that would have brought the Denver Broncos to within two points of finishing a comeback win against the Indianapolis Colts. Now the Broncos are 6-1, having the first blemish of the season against Peyton Manning‘s former team. With as many mistakes the Broncos made, they did enough to get close enough to come back, but it was not in the cards.

They will bounce back next week against the Washington Redskins. One thing they need to do over the rest of the season involves Hillman. I am going to say right now that this running back is just an accident waiting to happen. He has not learned anything about ball security and had he held on, there would have been a glimmer of hope for the team to come back.

I believe the Broncos need to bench Hillman until he proves that he can protect the football. Now that Knowshon Moreno has emerged as the man in Denver when it comes to running the football, give Moreno the start and most of the carries. Montee Ball can also get involved in the offense on a couple of plays, but until Hillman shows that he can better protect in the trenches, it would be wise to not let him put a single finger on the ball during the game.

I know there were many more mistakes in that game for the Broncos, but Hillman cost them any real chance they had at winning that football game and it has been a constant problem. So, as the season progresses, teams fix problems so that they are not a problem in the long run. It is time to fix this problem now and sit Hillman until the right time.
