I told you I saw this breakout game coming!

Despite the Denver Broncos losing 39-33 to the Indianapolis ColtsEric Decker had his best game of the season. He was targeted 13 times and caught 8 of them for a whopping 150 yards and a touchdown. 56 of the 150 yards coming on one drive, where Decker and Peyton Manning scored the first points of the football game. The Colts focused more on Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker, both receivers not getting much thrown their way due to the great Indianapolis secondary until the attempted comeback was when they did well, but this was a good field day for Decker.

Manning has plenty of weapons. Shut down one or two of them, and he will find a third, a fourth, maybe even a fifth one. This game showed that Decker is still a very important part to this Broncos offense. He was able to improve his game during practice this week and focused on playing his game. This was definitely a step forward for the wide out from Minnesota.

I believe that this game, even though it ended in defeat, will boost Decker’s confidence and allow him to get more involved in a bigger role for the Broncos, especially as the season goes on. The thing about this is that it has been overlooked due to the showdown between Manning and Andrew Luck.

Don’t sleep on Decker just yet. This weapon has plenty more in store the rest of the season. He is a hard worker who looks forward to improving his game every single week. But with how the Broncos offense works, Manning could find a new favorite target next weekend. But be assured that opposing defenses should take notes and be on the lookout for No. 87. He is a lot more dangerous than you give credit for.
