It seems like the bad luck will never end for the Minnesota Vikings this season.
As if having to use your third starting quarterback on primetime while he has a dismal performance isn’t bad enough, how bad is it that you have to use another quarterback the next week?
Based on reports, Josh Freeman suffered a concussion on Monday against the New York Giants and now he won’t be able to start this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, which means that the Vikings will have Christian Ponder under center managing the offense once again.
This also leaves Matt Cassel as the odd man in the equation.
Even when Freeman looked absolutely rusty in his debut (20 for 53, less than 200 yards, no TD and one INT), he should have been given more chances to start so this injury comes at a bad time for the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal caller.
The Vikings will have to turn to Ponder this weekend and see if he’s able to lead the team to a much needed win. They haven’t been good at all this season and they need to turn things around as soon as possible.
But based on Ponder’s performance this year, it doesn’t seem like it will happen on Sunday. It is clear that if Freeman isn’t available then the Vikings need to go on another direction while he’s out, but Ponder doesn’t look like the best choice.
Based on how things look towards Sunday, it could be another long weekend for the Vikings.
