Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Should Greg Schiano Be Fired?

After suffering from another loss tonight against the Carolina Panthers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to their worst start in five years. They’ve lost their quarterback in Josh FreemanDoug Martin is potentially out for the season and the move for Carl Nicks has just about seemed like a waist of money. With these losses, one may think that it would be time to make a bigger change than the quarterback. In fact, many fans in Tampa would suggest firing head coach Greg Schiano.

Schiano runs the Buccaneers in a tough-love way and he enjoys using all of his privileges as much as he can; now it may be too much for the locker room. When a team is winning, nobody will question how a coach runs his team but when you’ve lost 12 out of your last 13 games, it’s time to decide if the coach’s ethics are actually necessary.

The players are obviously getting frustrated with Schiano and if they continue to lose games, Schiano will lose the locker room as well. This is potentially grounds for firing in the NFL today.

Schiano said earlier this week that the Buccaneers would win their share of games but after this loss heading into the second half of the season, it would be difficult to see any victories at all.

Next week, the Buccaneers are traveling to play the Seattle Seahawks who have been better than almost anyone this season; the Seahawks will certainly be a tough game to overcome for the Buccaneers. After the Seahawks, the schedule will not lighten up with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers as well as their three remaining divisional games.

If the Buccaneers finish the season with less than three wins, one would assume that the Schiano Era would most likely come to an end.
