Entering the season, the Baltimore Ravens had a few questions in terms of who they could be this year. Overall, they were feeling pretty good about themselves since, well you know, they kind of won the Super Bowl last year. After losing so many key starters this offseason, Baltimore entered 2013 looking to prove they can still be an elite team.
Quarterback Joe Flacco has been one of the better postseason quarterbacks in recent memory, but when it comes to the regular season he’s looked more like he’s just playing good enough to get by. This season, that hasn’t been good enough; nor has the run game.
At 3-4, the Ravens look like a completely different team than they did a year ago. Ray Rice isn’t playing like the elite running back he can be, and Flacco hasn’t been the consistently good quarterback in crunch time that he normally is.
Will this Ravens team make the playoffs? Well, considering the Pittsburgh Steelers just took them down, things don’t look good for Baltimore. In fact, there seems to be more hope for Pittsburgh than there is for their divisional rival at the moment. The Steelers have won two straight and look to get themselves back into the thick of this AFC playoff picture.
For Baltimore to get themselves to the playoffs, the run game is going to have to improve. Defensively, they’ve been running in the middle of the pack but could be better in terms of taking the ball away. Right now, I don’t see the Ravens making the playoffs especially because of how many teams there are looking much better in the AFC at the moment.
