What Are Chances Green Bay Packers’ Nick Perry Plays Sunday Night

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers got by without outside linebacker Nick Perry against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7. However, there is no question the team would prefer to see him on the field. The good news is that very well could be a possibility against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.

Perry was able to practice Friday much to the surprise of many. At this point, Green Bay is listing him as questionable for the Week 8 contest. The fact that he has until Sunday night to rest his injured foot gives the organization confidence that he could be able to suit up when game time rolls around.

“He looked OK,” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said after Friday’s practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Nick was in a very limited role today. Didn’t want to overdo it. So we’ll see how feels and hopefully get ready for Sunday night.”

Obviously, Green Bay has no intentions of playing Perry if he is unable to go. The fact is they do not need him to play with Andy Mulumba and Nick Palmer combining for 16 tackles this season. With that being said, it certainly would not hurt to have Perry on the field as a solid threat as a pass rusher. Not to mention, he has shown great improvement in run defense, which could prove to be important against the always lethal Adrian Peterson.

Truth be told, Perry has played at an incredibly high level this season. In fact, he is one of the better defensive players the Packers have. He leads the team with two forced fumbles and is tied for first on the roster with three sacks. He also has posted 18 tackles in five games.

Perry’s presence on the field is much more important than people think which is why it would be great if he were able to play in Green Bay’s primetime matchup.
