Buffalo Bills Catch Huge Break as Jimmy Graham is Unlikely to Play for New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham is listed as unlikely to play today due to a partially torn plantar fascia in his foot. Fans of the Buffalo Bills are familiar with this injury all too well as the franchised and star safety Jairus Byrd missed the first five games with a similar aliment. Plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot as well. Simply put, Graham is likely in a great deal of pain and the best medicine for this problem is rest and staying off of his feet as much as possible as even walking, let alone running and playing a full contact sport, will only make the injury worse and take much longer to heal. This is a huge blow for the Saints as he has been Drew Brees’ right-hand man since coming into the league in 2010.
Graham is such a game changer as he is a physical freak standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 260 pounds and is quick and nimble as a cat. This is likely due to the fact that he only played on the University of Miami Hurricanes from 2005-2009 as well, which also explains his sheer explosion and abilities to grab the ball at its’ highest point with ease.
With Graham out, veteran tight end Benjamin Watson will have to step up greatly. While he was the first-round pick for the New England Patriots in 2004, and has had a solid career, he does not have the athletic abilities at 32 years old that he once had and especially compared to his younger and star teammate. All and all, it should be interesting to see what happens with the Bills passing defense and if they can take advantage of an unfortunate situation to an extremely good football team in the New Orleans Saints.
