Just when defenses have figured out how to stop the Denver Broncos’ weapons, another one emerges.
The Broncos defeated the Washington Redskins 45-21 on Sunday to move to 7-1 on the year. The biggest story to develop was the emergence of Knowshon Moreno as a passing threat. Moreno caught a 35-yard screen pass from Peyton Manning in the fourth quarter to help the Broncos run away with the game.
Has Moreno developed into another weapon for Manning to throw to? I believe he has. Moreno has done a lot of work to get to where he is today. Having suffered with injury after injury and ball security. Critics would have considered him a bust, but Moreno is now getting his chances and making the most of them. With Ronnie Hillman struggling and Montee Ball still learning the offense, Moreno has become such a reliable option for Manning whether it is running or catching the football. Now defenses have to prepare for Moreno as well as the other four weapons that are around Manning.
With the Broncos’ bye week, this gives them a chance to get healthy and would be a perfect time to figure out how to get Moreno involved in the passing game as well as him running the football. Perhaps coming up with some plays that revolve around Moreno could be beneficial for the Broncos when it comes to their playoff run.
Moreno will play a huge part for the Broncos offense, especially with the schedule that is coming up after the bye week. They should take this week to rest some lingering injuries and figure out a way to use Moreno to an advantage. It could be the deciding factor for a huge run come January.
