Seattle Seahawks: Percy Harvin Not Needed Week 9

The NFL season is a marathon, not a sprint. For the Seattle Seahawks, decisive victories are an important factor. However, so is ongoing health.

Who are we talking about about? You guessed it. Percy Harvin.

Now that it has been decided that Harvin won’t play against the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football, the speculation for Week 9 can officially begin. Does he need to come back for that game either?

Truthfully, no.

Obviously you want to get Harvin back at some point. He will need time to get into NFL shape, find his role in the offense and adjust to the flow of the season. However, are you really going to put him on the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if he isn’t ready?

The 0-7 Bucs?

Granted, it would be a nice way for Harvin to start the season. Let him get into the game at home where he can get a bit of affirmation from the appreciative fans. You also have the opportunity to potentially get him some nice, easy catches against Tampa Bay.

Don’t rush. Then again, if the guy is healthy, is there a reason to wait?

Something tells me that there will be a Percy Harvin sighting in Week 9. That isn’t an official prediction, but at some point Pete Carroll has to see what his electric receiver can do. The NFL wants to see what Russell Wilson is going to do with a truly dynamic weapon like Harvin.

We just to wait at least one more week for the opening of the Percy Harvin Show. Hopefully it will be a successful debut…season premiere TBA.
