If the NFL wants a team in London, they are going to have to put forth a better show than the San Francisco 49ers clobbering the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 49ers won their fifth straight game and will carry the streak into their bye week. However, before San Francisco can move on from the Week 8 contest as quickly as everyone else has, it is important to recognize the Most Valuable Player of the game.
The 49ers were running on all cylinders, as every facet of the game was a reason for the coaching staff to be happy. With that being said, quarterback Colin Kaepernick continues to impress, which is why he deserves the award.
Kaepernick has not been overly impressive with his numbers this season. In fact, he has only passed for more than 300 yards in one contest, which occurred in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. Not to mention, he has not attempted more than 29 passes since that matchup as well.
The good news is he has still been efficient due to a combination of consistent throws and a solid running game that continues to keep defenses off guard. It was the exact formula that was used to defeat the Jaguars and it is something that will continue until defenses put a stop to it.
Kaepernick finished the game with 10-for-16 passing for 164 yards through the air and one passing touchdown. He added 54 rushing yards and another two touchdowns on the ground. Even though the great performance occurred against the lowly Jaguars, it is still impressive nonetheless.
