Baltimore Ravens Made Right Move Standing Pat At Trade Deadline
With all of the speculation on whether or not the Baltimore Ravens would make a move at the trade deadline for a wide receiver or a tight end, the Ravens made the best move they could have made: nothing. Ozzie Newsome, and company did the right thing.
The Ravens don’t have issues at wide receiver. As a matter of fact, the wide receiver position has provided the best depth on offense and arguably in the top three overall on the team. The Ravens have seen young wide receivers emerge like Marlon Brown, Tandon Doss, and most importantly Torrey Smith who led the league in receiving yards with 629 before the Ravens’ bye week.
Now you look at the tight end position, and even though Ed Dickson has not performed the way a lot of people would have hoped for, Dennis Pitta is expected to return in the middle of November at the earliest.
Combine Pitta with Dallas Clark who is starting to hit his stride at the right time, and the Ravens might have something going here at tight end as long as everyone gets used to playing with one another at full strength.
When you make a trade this late into the season, you have to wonder if that particular player you traded for can work with the rest of the team in a hurry. Add to that the fact that there is a lot to learn with the language in the playbook as well.
If the Ravens wanted to make a trade they could have done so during their bye week in Week 8. They decided not to which pretty much ruled out any major transactions at the trade deadline.
