It took a close loss to the Seattle Seahawks to maybe give the St. Louis Rams some hope for the 2013 season. Heading into the year, the Rams were expected to be one of the dark-horse teams to make a run at the playoffs, but a 3-5 start to the season has been anything but impressive. Quarterback Sam Bradford is now out for the season with a torn ACL, but a close game against one of the NFL‘s best teams last week provided some hope for backup quarterback Kellen Clemens who passed for just 177 yards, but gave his team a chance to win. However, the pass game has been awful and will likely continue to be the second option for the Rams moving forward with the emergence of Zac Stacey who has rushed for 348 yards after taking over for the struggling Daryl Richardson.
On the other side of the field, the Tennessee Titans are looking like a possible sneak-into-the-playoffs type of team. Although they are just 3-4 on the young season, the Titans are getting Jake Locker back at quarterback and things seem to be looking up for this team. Locker was injured on Sept. 29 that set him out nearly a month as he came back in week seven and passed for over 300 yards and two scores. Locker has 1,047 yards and eight touchdowns in just five games this season. Nate Washington has helped out both quarterbacks that have led the team this season, catching 26 passes for 439 yards and a score while Kendall Wright is emerging as well, catching 40 passes for 433 yards and a score. Chris Johnson is improving little by little as the running back has 366 yards on the year but has yet to reach the endzone.
Defensively, the Titans rank seventh in passing yards allowed per game this season. Tennessee also ranks 10th in points allowed per game and 13th in total yards allowed per game. St. Louis ranks 21st in points allowed per game while also ranking a below-average 23rd in rushing yards allowed per game. They are, however, in the middle of the pack in total yards allowed per contest while ranking 12th in passing yards allowed.
PREDICTION: Titans 24, Rams 21
